Leicester University Library - Phases I and II

This project was undertaken in two phases. The first phase was the construction of a new block directly adjacent to the existing University Library for which we were responsible for the Co-ordination of the Modular Roof Plant. The Roof Plant Space was constructed from 17 seperate Pre-Fabricated Modules complete with all internal services, internal flooring, external insulated cladding and roof structure; which were lifted into place complete onto a structurally formed full perimeter concrete upstand.

This project was particularly difficult from a drawing production perspective as the initial planning phase needed to be accurate from conceptual modular design to enable the Professional Team to design and detail the supporting upstand. Close liason was required with the Project Architect to ensure that all loading and drainage was considered.

The Second Phase was the detailed co-ordination of new services to replace 'life-expired' equipment on the existing building roof that were fed from the new building's Modular Roof Space.
