Background

The new Nationwide building headquarters in Swindon was a refurb of a building erected in the eighties.

Approach

We first went down there during the strip-out phase, firstly to get a cloud point survey done and also to assess what was being discovered during the strip-out that we needed to know for the coordination.

Riser locations were designed but couldn’t be located until we had investigated the site and worked out drop locations with the site team.

From the survey we were able to position the fan coil units in the appropriate bays then work out how many branches from the furthest to get back to the riser. Taking account of the steel lattice beam structure we were able calculate the distances and tolerances we needed to create a completely self draining system and fit all the other services around it.

Result

The result was a well serviced, highly maintainable building that looks great and projects the image wanted by Nationwide
